We get that Elizabeth Warren looks like a dangerous lefty who wants to destroy capitalism with massive tax hikes, huge new programs and a proliferation of meddlesome new laws and regulations. Yet we are taking a stand in her support. Her main theme is tackling corruption. We agree that it should the main priority of the next administration. We are in a populist moment, and an agenda of radical reform rises to the demand of this moment. And it is a radical reform that addresses what ails our political economy: corruption in the form of capture and rent seeking by interests that gain and maintain their power through control of the nation’s governmental and legal institutions. Our vision sees the anti-corruption agenda as a first-100 days goal. And we hope and also anticipate that much of the rest of the agenda will fade because it can’t get through Congress.
